Durham Junior/Senior Tournament 2016

Thanks to all of the players who took part in our end of season junior/senior tournament. This was organised to be a fun morning of badminton for the juniors to get some experience with seniors and for the seniors to see our up and coming talent. It was a great success! 12 Senior Durham players were paired with players from our junior sessions and were placed in one big Round Robin competition.

Everyone entered into the spirit of the event and with the help of the exceptional music choices (cough cough) there was a great atmosphere. The games were so competitive we were unable to get everything played in our 2 hour slot. Out of the games played, Dominic Barlow and Alison Gent started strongly but ended up in third position.

Murray and Oliver were considered the strongest pair so had a difficult starting score of -5. They still battled and won some of their games. Raj and Cameron faced a determined Richie who partnered Billy and this game was fun to watch! Jude and Alex started poorly until they changed their formation and Alex brought in his 'power' smash. Claire and Callum had some great games with Callum winning player of the tournament for his efforts.  Gill Hay and Sean Grieveson were an excellent combination as were joint second place with the mother and daughter combo of Ella and Emma Hodgeson. However, Josh Males and Maddie Atkinson ran off with the prizes after remaining unbeaten in all their games. Thanks again to Team Robson for running the desk and taking photographs!
